LokPixLite

LokPix (all versions) is a Landscape-oriented (i.e. horizontal) only application. This fits the aspect ratio of the built-in camera, and also the resulting pictures. Additionally, it feels more like a real digital camera when you hold it that way.

When you first start LokPix, this is is what you will be presented with:

The Red background indicates that no passkey has been entered yet - the application is Locked.

When you press either the Camera button or the Gallery button, you will be presented with the passkey dialog:

When you enter a passkey (see below) and press Enter, the display changes to this:

The application is now unlocked, and your selected module will start. To re-secure the photos, press the Lock button, and the passkey will be reset. For security, the passkey may also be locked if you exit LokPix via the Home or Back keys.

Important Reminder:
If you don't type your passkey in EXACTLY like you did when you saved your photos, they won't decrypt. Same case, same spacing - everything EXACTLY THE SAME!

About Passkeys and Virtual Galleries

Notice that there's no dialog popping up complaining about an invalid passkey. That's because, apart from an empty one, there is no single correct passkey! The passkey that you enter is used to generate a crypto key, which is then used to encrypt and decrypt the pictures that you create while using that key. You can have as many different passkeys as you have pictures (assuming that you can keep them all straight...). This feature, along with the Gallery setting "Hide Locked Pictures", can be used to create separate virtual Galleries on a single SD card.

Remember that a strong, un-guessable passkey is critical to keeping your photos confidential. If someone obtains your phone or the encrypted files on it, they might try to attack the security with a password cracker. This type of program simply runs through an enormous dictionary, trying each word (and all the common variations, such as digits in place of letters). If you use a simple word as your passkey, it'll be broken fairly easily by these advanced tools.

One frequently recommended practice is to think of a memorable phrase, then use the first letter of each word in that phrase as the passkey. Mixing UPPER and lower case helps to stir the pot also.
